In 2007, just as fantasy artist Carla Morrow began peddling her wares to the fantasy market, the market replied by saying they weren't interested in dragons. “Fairy art had just exploded, and that’s what the companies were looking for.” Carla says. “I even tried to paint a few fairies...that’s 3 paintings that will never ever see the light of day”
In retaliation, Carla had a vision. A vision of a baby dragon eating a fairy. This became the concept behind her first piece “I Can haz Fairy? NOM NOM NOM”. A darling painting of baby dragon, confusedly munching on a fairy. There was no stopping the cuteness that would come after.
Enter the “Little Wings Dragons”. A cross between Lord of the Rings, and LOLcatz. “The market wanted fairies, so I gave them fairies…” She says.
