And now, the painting can begin. I work in watercolor on crescent professional watercolor board. I LOVE the light tooth, and how well the board absorbs water and color. The board can warp if you are working in wet washes, so I recommend you still tape it down to a hard board, but it doesn't have to be perfect. I have some scrap ampersand pastel board that I tape too. Its light, thin and the same size as the watercolor board I have cut. this piece will be 11x14. The same size as the previous butterfly pieces.
Once my board is cut and taped down I transfer my original drawing to the board with a large sheet of graphite paper, and just trace over the drawing. I use a blue colored pencil with a sharp point for this, so I can see where I have already traced.
I have one more butterfly after this one before the set of 4 is complete. :D
